on ‎11-02-2022 23:10. @Alex29. Some things to try: 1 - Reboot phone. 2 - Manually search for a different network. 3 - If using an iPhone, change data apn to "mobile.o2.co.uk". 4 - Check with O2 for any roaming bars.
If you can connect to other applications on your data network, but not WhatsApp, it could be that your mobile provider has configured your wireless access points to block certain chat applications. Try this if WhatsApp still will not work on data only: Contact your mobile provider and ask them about different access point settings to run chat

My wife and I were in Italy in August and my data services (Internet) would not work. We both have the iPhone 12 Pro and changed O2 tariffs in June (been with O2 for as long as I can remember) and have used data services abroad several times a year in the past. The only difference I can see is in

eSim not working abroad. 1. O2 eSim. local number (with local O2) works fine. eSim does not allow to call UK numbersI dial a number and nothing happens, no sound, nothing for some seconds and then the attempt is ended and marked as Cancelled on the phone. Sometimes a call gets through to me but other times they dont.

Whilst abroad, you can change your apn to “mobile.o2.co.uk” which will enable data abroad but will be wrong for the UK so with the correct data tariff and an apn of “idata.o2.co.uk” it will work correctly everywhere. WrzXB.
