Now click "Play Life is Strange" in that pop up window. If the pop up window does not appear and the game automatically launches, just alt tab instead and go to that webpage. Don't let the game get to the start menu or else it might not work.

Sooo the first time I played this was fine, and now after the udpate, when I try to load the game it stays with a black screen right after the Unreal engine logo, no sound and it doest crash.. am actually typing this while on game..

I had the same issue and I did troubleshoot it by launching the game from a terminal. Now you need to trick a the game a bit since if you launch it from outside Steam it will redirect Steam. So what I did is that in startup options, I did enter: xterm -T %command% Then click start in Steam, and in the xterm that opens, enter ./LifeIsStrange.sh naCzBa.
